What To Expect

Your needs are unique, so we have flexible options to meet you where you are. From therapy to medication management, you have access to services tailored to help you find balance and strength.

Short-Term Counseling

Meet 1-on-1 with a coach, licensed therapist, or both who will guide you through a personalized 8-week program proven to reduce depression, stress, and anxiety. Short-term counseling with a therapist can help you with:

  • Emotional support: Provide a safe, non-judgmental space to express your feelings
  • Behavioral changes: Help you identify and change negative patterns of thinking and behavior
  • Coping strategies: Teach you practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other issues
  • Personal growth: Support you in achieving personal goals and improving overall well-being

Medication Management and Long-Term Counseling

Meet with a psychiatrist who can evaluate your symptoms, prescribe appropriate medications, and monitor their effectiveness and side effects. A psychiatrist can help you with:

  • Integrated care: Combines medication with psychotherapy for a holistic approach; we encourage every patient on medication to also see a therapist.
  • Diagnosis: Identify mental health conditions through comprehensive evaluations
  • Medication prescriptions: Provide and adjust medications to manage symptoms effectively
  • Medical interventions: Address complex mental health issues with specialized medical treatments

FAQs

Do I need a diagnosis to book a session?
No, you can start therapy or psychiatry without a formal diagnosis.

Is this covered by insurance?
Mental health coverage depends on your health benefit plan. The number is listed on the back of your CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield insurance ID card. Our navigators can also help you check your benefits to see if you’re eligible to use this service. If you need assistance finding out if you are eligible, please contact us at navigation@closeknithealth.com.

How long are sessions?
Mental health virtual visits can range anywhere from 15-60 minutes. Depending on your needs, the duration of mental health visits will vary. Your therapist will work with you to define the number of visits and frequency of visits you may need.

How do I know if I need short- or long-term therapy?
Short-term therapy is an option if you have increased stress in your life or have recently experienced a major life change. It is also good for individuals who may have had therapy for depression or anxiety in the past and need a refresh.

Longer term therapy is more appropriate for complex illness such as moderate to severe depression, bipolar or substance use disorder or for anyone who has not seen an improvement with short—term therapy.

If you’re not sure which is right for you, reach out to us at navigation@closeknithealth.com and one of our health guides can assist you on selecting the best program that suites your needs.
